Our School Mission Statement |
The mission of Oakhurst Elementary educators is to prepare children to be life-long learners by encouraging them to achieve their highest potential. |
Our Classroom Mission Statement: 2007-2008 |
| We are smart second grade Oakhurst Mustangs. We are going to do our best by being good listeners, focusing on our lessons, having self-confidence and NEVER giving up! We will prepare ourselves for third grade by stretcching our brain muscles in reading, writing, math and science. We will have fun and work as a team to be the best we can be! |
About Me |
I am very excited about beginning my fifth year at Oakhurst. When I first came to Oakhurst I taught third grade. Now I am beginning my third year in second grade which really is my heart’s desire. Before moving to Florida, I taught 15 years in Virginia all at the second grade level. I feel like I’ve come back home to my second grade roots! Teaching third grade was an exceptional experience for me however because I was able to see and feel the expectations put on the students at that level.
I live in Redington Beach and have become quite the beach comber. To me there is nothing more relaxing than a long walk on the beach or enjoying a beautiful sunset. I also enjoy scrapbooking and technology.
In addition to my classroom responsibilities, I am co-sponsor of the K-Kids Club at Oakhurst along with Mrs. Rodenhuis. We work alongside a group of 4th and 5th graders doing community service projects that are supported by the Seminole Kiwanis Club. I am also active in a variety of other committees at school that benefit my students and myself professionally.
Oakhurst is a wonderful place to teach and learn! I look forward to working with you and your child this year!
