Stallion Band - No previous musical training necessary. Open to all students interested in learning to play an instrument. Students are taught fundamentals of music theory, appreciation and instrumental technique. The Stallion Band will perform in the Winter and Spring Concerts. Private instruction is encouraged.
Participation in this ensemble is subject to Director Approval
Concert Band – Includes students with elementary, beginning, or summer band experience. Students will continue to learn the basic techniques of playing their instrument and reading music. This ensemble will perform in the Winter and Spring Concerts. Private instruction is encouraged
Participation in this ensemble is subject to Director Approval
Symphonic Band – 7th and 8th grade students with 1 or more years of experience from the Stallion or Concert Bands. Focus on performance of music literature utilizing and developing techniques learned. The Intermediate Band performs two concerts a year and may perform at Florida Bandmaster’s Association Music Performance Assessment. Private lessons are a great help at this level since class size and performance commitments limit the amount of individual instruction a student receives.
Participation in this ensemble is by Director Recommendation.
Wind Ensemble – 7th and 8th grade students with 1 or more years of experience from the Stallion Band, Concert Band or Symphonic Band. Focus is put on performing advanced level music, utilizing advanced technical and musical skills. Private lessons are highly recommended. Private teachers can help with preparation for All-County and All-State Band auditions, preparation of difficult band music, and selection and preparation of Solo and Ensemble music for performance at FBA Solo and Ensemble Music Performance Assessment.
Participation in this ensemble is by audition only.
Jazz Ensemble – 7th and 8th grade students with advanced musical experience. Includes study of jazz articulation, jazz styles, performance, and improvisation. The jazz ensemble will perform many times throughout the year in school and out of school.
Participation in this ensemble is by Director Recommendation. The Director reserves the right to audition students who are interested in participating in this ensemble.
