Southside Fundamental Middle School   Reaching Higher

Parent Expectations for Internet Use and Homework

school.jpg
The mission of Southside Fundamental Middle School is to "promote academic excellence, outstanding citizenship, individual responsibility and parent involvement in a safe and nurturing environment." It is our belief that all four of these components are essential to the success of the fundamental system, and that you, the parent, are an essential partner in that process.

To help clarify the expectations of that partnership, we would like to offer the following reminders as they pertain to the use of internet resources and the completion of homework, online or otherwise:

  • Parents are expected to supervise and guide students' use of the internet when students are not at school. This is reflected in the parent portion of the Network/Internet Acceptable Use Agreement, which reads, "I accept full responsibility for the supervision, if any, when my child's use is not in a school setting." (It may also be part of your Internet Service Provider's Agreement.)

  • Parent signatures on homework should reflect that you have reviewed the requirements of an assignment and the extent to which your child has completed those requirements. This is in place to insure that proper attention is being given to each assignment, with the knowledge that incomplete work is not an acceptable standard.

We appreciate all that our parents and families do to support our efforts to educate your children. Personal responsibility and outstanding citizenship are cornerstones of that effort, and all of us -- staff, students, and parents -- have committed to keeping these values as our standard.

Thank you for your support
--Southside Fundamental Faculty and Staff.
