Our School Library Information Center
All students have weekly access to the library and may check out library books. Instruction is given daily to classes, small groups, and individual students in library skills, research and computer skills. Reading Counts Program is available in grades Kindergarten through 5th to match students to appropriate books for independent reading.
Mrs. Nancy Cohen, library information specialist, selects new books for the school collection each year. The school library now contains 8000 books and over 900 nonprint items, such as videos, computer software, and CDs.
The Media Center houses a specially equipped computer with adaptive devices and software for students with special needs. Skyview library is part of the statewide Sunlink library database and interlibrary loan project. Students use a computer-based automatic check-out system after selecting their books.
Skyview recently received the Florida Power Designation. This award is given to recognize an outstanding School Library Program.
