Skycrest was built in 1952 with many improvements since then. Our building was originally designed for 550 students. Continuous improvements and additions have modernized many of our classrooms. We are presently educating 705 students. Federal funding supports our school in providing a full-time Certified Nursing Assistant, who is housed in a portable clinic along with our physical therapist. Our school serves grades K-5, Exceptional Education Students, ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages), as well as students identified to be served in the Gifted Program. Our school has a long history of working with our partner, Ruth Eckerd Hall, which exposes our students to a variety of programs and experiences with teaching artists through the Passports Program. Every teacher and staff member at Skycrest is committed to meeting the needs of each child. Teachers utilize the most effective teaching techniques and strategies to bring the love of learning to all students. We want every child to feel successful in all areas of the curriculum. Our use of teaching partners and specialists allows us to work closely with small groups of students to meet individual needs. Our commitment to the arts provides opportunities to nurture the affective part of the brain.
