Wally Warhawk Media Center Goals |
Wally Warhawk Teacher Virtual Resource Center/Media Center Goals:
Update our collection in book, DVD and Electronic titles by weeding and replacing .02% of our combined collection.
As funds become more restrictive our Weeding and Replacement Goal is under review. Our Weeding Objective can be 100%. Our Replacement Objective is likely to be closer to 50%. Not that that's a bad thing.
Weeding and new orders are ongoing - we're still deleting more volumes than can be replaced with our current budget. Carol is compiling a book list - get your orders in.
Circulation: Short of the Chairs and Tables, if you can move it, we can check it out. Disney has Turnstiles. We had a Turnstile. Now we have Barcodes.
Objective: Aggregate Data for Checkout of Computers, Bibliographic - PCSB, WWPS, Labs, Personal Data Device. Compile data re: Type, Capacity, PCSB Access
Provide access to On-Line resources: Parent/Teacher/Student Quick Link Pages.
Our goal for last year was to get rid of old books and replace with new. We did get rid of some old books and we added many new ones to our collection. Reading Counts was especially favored. We'll continue that effort for 2008/09.
Reading Counts Quiz: Preloaded for every title. New for 2009 and 2010.

Technology: Teacher and Student 2.0 |
Seminole High School is preparing for a dramatic improvement in network access and user stations.
That was 2005/06!
A 2006/07 PCSB Computer Refresh project shipped nearly 400 Dell computers to Seminole High. At least 80% of teacher stations are Windows computers.
There are now more than 350 student stations available at Seminole High. Last year there was less than a hundred.
We have nearly 200 more computers coming in 2007/08. Our new principal Mr. Weller is dedicated to improving Teacher and Student connectivity in classrooms.
Our 2007/08 Computer Refresh delivery has replaced the balance of Mac teacher stations. Another 140 student stations are in place. As always it's a challenge to provide network support. SAC has approved money for more Internet wiring to classrooms. Mr. Weller provided the mini hubs for select classrooms.
The third year delivery of PCSB Refresh 2009 computers will be September 15th 2008.
MS Office Suite 2007 will be installed on Teacher computers by Christmas break. VISTA is an OPTION!! on any Teacher or Student computer.
