School Advisory Committee
School Advisory Council (SAC)

The School Advisory Council (SAC) is a team of people representing various parents of the community.  The people on this team consist of parents, teachers, students, administrators, support staff, business/industry people and other interested community members.
The SAC is responsible for planning the school improvement plan and jointly working with the principal and staff after analyzing relevant data.  The SAC determines the goals in the paean and how to measure the goals.  School Improvement Teams are responsible for developing and implementing strategies and action plans to accomplish the goals.
Each school in the State of Florida must have a SAC.  By law each SAC must have the principal and a balanced number of stakeholders.  Theses stakeholder must represent the ethnic, racial, and economic makeup of the community served by the school.  The majority of SAC members (over 50 percent) must NOT be employed by the school.  If you would like to become a SAC member of Seminole Elementary, please contact us at (727)547-7668.
 
Role of SAC Committee
Role of School Advisory Council

The SAC is required to assist in the development and evaluation of a school improvement plan designed to meet state education and student performance standards.  The Roles and Responsibilities  include Development, Budgeting/Personnel, Implementation, and Evaluation.

Development
* Assist in developing or reviewing the school vision statement
* Collects and analyzes information about the community (external) and the school (internal) and receives public input regarding needs of the school
* Assist in the preparation and evaluation of the school improvement plan
* Advertises the final draft of the school improvement plan and conducts a public meeting for community suggestions for modifications

Budgeting/Personnel
* Assist with the expenditure of school improvement funds allocated by legislative mandates


Implementation
* Communicates to parents and other community members the progress of the school improvement plan
* Supports school improvement implementation and assist the school principal and school staff in carrying out implementation, where appropriate
* Serves as an advocate in the community and the school for implementation and assist in public relations efforts related to the plan


Evaluation

* Provides ongoing review of the progress being made toward implementation of the school improvement plan
* Evaluates success by monitoring short-term and long-term outcomes
