Educating the leaders of tomorrow since 1958, San Jose Elementary School is located in a quiet neighborhood in Dunedin, Florida. It is adjacent to Hammock Park.
San Jose is a neighborhood school with a warm, family atmosphere and caring staff members.
If location is everything, then proximity to the Pinellas Trail, Hammock Park, Dunedin Nature Center and the Gulf of Mexico makes our school a "natural choice."

Don't forget....Wednesdays are early dismissal days for Pinellas County Schools. San Jose students will be dismissed at 1:35 on Wednesdays.
Every Friday is a SJE Recycle Day
Cans and Paper/Newspaper can be recycled here. Receptacles at the San Helen Drive Entrance. You can also drop off aluminum cans & plastic bottles for recycling on Friday mornings. Just hand your bag of cans/plastic bottles to the people working in the car circle, as you drop off your child on Friday morning in the car circle.
Did you know that there is a new PreK class at San Jose? We are currently enrolling three and four year olds for our new program. The weekly tuition is $75.00. Please inquire in the front office for additional information.

Valentine's Day Concert
7:00pm, San Jose Cafeteria. This concert will feature our Kindergarten and 1st Grade students performing a few songs they have learned in music class. Students singing in the concert should report at 6:30pm to their classroom. The concert should last about 30 minutes.

FCAT Writing Test for 4th Graders
4th Graders will need plenty of rest the night before the Writing Test and will need to eat a good breakfast! This is an important test for our 4th Graders. They have worked very hard and we are very proud of them. We especially need them to be here at school that day and to be on time. Thanks for your help.

2nd Annual Super Scientist Science Competition 7am-2pm at Mildred Helms Elementary. San Jose will be sending a team of 5th graders to this competition.

3rd Annual Casa Tina Night 5-9pm
Put this fun event on your calendar. There will be a concert by our students at 5:30pm in Pioneer Park. Then stroll downtown and check out the amazing art show which benefits San Jose student in music, art, gifted and autism programs as well as educational programming. Casa Tina and Pan y Vino Restaurants will be donating 100% of the profits from the food sales that night to our school! Please call 734-9226 to make reservations for dinner seating.

San Jose's Annual Multicultural Fair sponsored by the San Jose PMAC. We are looking for family and friends of San Jose who might like to volunteer their time on the afternoon of March 23rd to share their culture and heritage with our students. **Important Road Closure Information That Affects San Jose Students:
Effective Monday, January 16, 2012, a major construction project will close San Christopher Drive between Alamo Lane and Spaulding Drive. This construction project is expected to last 5 months. The city will install detour signs to direct traffic around the construction site.
The school crossing post located on San Christopher Drive and San Mateo drive will be closed during construction.
ALL students will be directed to use the school crossing location on San Christopher and Bass Blvd. There will be NO pedestrian traffic allowed in the construction zone. Additional crossing guards will be out to assist students on 1/17 and 1/18. An additional crossing guard will be posted at San Christopher and Bass Blvd to assist with the higher traffic volume and student pedestrians.

Our children's safety depends upon you to obey the speed limit on San Helen Drive and in all of our school zones. Please be courteous and keep a watchful eye when pulling out of all parking lots. Please keep all children in your car in their seatbelts until your car comes to a complete stop. Thanks.
Children should not arrive at school before 8:05am. There is no supervision before that time. Thanks for your assistance.
Homework Helpline is an available free phone service to answer homework questions for students in grades 1-12. It is open Mon-Thurs 5-8pm at 442-3226 or 547-7223. If you get a busy signal, call back. Some nights are busier than others.
