Promotion Requirement

Beginning with the 2002-2003 school year, social promotions are eliminated by state law. Students scoring Level 1 on the Reading FCAT at the end of third grade must be retained.
The law defines six “good cause” exemptions that may be used for promotion. Please ask your teacher if these "good causes" apply to your child

Attendance

*Attendance is essential to learning
*Learning begins at 8:40 a.m.
*A written note is required explaining the reason for an absence
*Students are responsible for missed assignments

Being a 3rd Grade Parent Is…

•Creating a learning and caring atmosphere at home
•Setting a good example for reading and writing
•Encouraging your child to apply skills learned at school
•Having high expectations for your child- not accepting excuses
•Being an informed, involved partner with the school to maximize your child’s learning and success
