Homework Policy

Every month, your child will receive a homework calendar that contains a schedule of the homework for that month. These calendars will include fun, hands-on projects that you can do with your child to promote learning.
Please turn in your child’s homework for the week every Friday. All written work should be completed in their spiral homework notebook and dated (Please do not tear the sheets out). Any worksheets should be placed inside the homework notebook pocket or attached to the notebook in some way.
An additional part of homework is to read with your child at least 30 minutes a day and record that information on the monthly reading logs. These reading logs will be due along with the homework every Friday. Please place it in the homework notebook.

behavior rubric

Behavior Rubric

Each day, your child will receive a number in their agenda planner that will reflect their ability to follow our ground rules that day. Your child and I will decide on the number that will be written in their agenda planner based on the following behavior rubric:

4- I made great choices all day long!
3- I made good choices most of the day.
2- I made good choices some of the day.
1- I needed a lot of help making good choices today.
I will try harder tomorrow!

Please keep in mind that a 4 is preferred, but I’m okay with an occasional 3. Everyone makes mistakes! Please discuss your child’s behavior number with them each day. Focus on the positives of the day and discuss ways to improve numbers less than 4. Thank you very much for all of your support from home!

Agendas

The agenda planner is an organizational tool that our school has adopted to promote student responsibility and increase communication between school and home. The agenda is accompanied by an “Important Papers” folder. It is crucial that you check the folder and agenda daily for correspondence, initial the agenda, and return them to school every day. Any notes that you have for your child’s teacher should be written in the space beside that day’s date. However, please write notes about absences or tardiness on a separate sheet of paper.

agenda

Attendance Policy

Classroom learning hours are from 8:25am to 2:40pm. The tardy bell rings at 8:40. Breakfast students enter the building at 8:15pm. All other students enter the building 8:25am. Learning begins when students enter the classroom at 8:25 so it is very important that you child is at school and on time everyday!

Afternoon Transportation

Student safety is our first priority. If your child’s mode of afternoon transportation changes, a note must be written in the agenda that day to let us know. If there is no note, your child will be required to take their normal way of transportation home.

Please refer to the first grade Student Expectations Booklet provided by Pinellas County Schools.

Money Policy

Please place any money that you send with your child to school in an envelope or a ziplock bag. Include your child’s name, the amount of money, and what the money is to be used for. Please do not allow your child to bring money to school that is not to be spent at school.
