VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNTIES
What's new
News Flash
Below are some volunteer opportunities for parents. The newest requests include:

-The "Jaguar Bucks" cart which students earn for good or above and beyond behavior is in need of restocking. See Jaguar Dollar Cart below for details.

- The Green Team can use some parent volunteers to supervise as students collect recyclables and undertake afterschool projects.

- The librarian can use some help updating her web site.
Jaguar Dollar Cart
Jaguar Dollars
*We are in need of any parental donations (such as highlighters, pencils, pens, paper, in general school supplies) for the "Jaguar Bucks" cart which students earn for good or above and beyond behavior. Drop the supplies off at the front office and let Mrs. Penninger or Mrs. Booth know they are for the "Jaguar Bucks" cart.

*We need volunteers during lunch to sell items from the Jaguar Dollar cart. Contact Mrs. Sarmiento by email or call the school at 727-552-1737.

AVID Guest Speakers
Speakers
*Guest Speakers: Speak to our 7th & 8th grade AVID students about your profession or recruit someone you who would be an asset to our students. AVID strives to recruit students who are in the "academic middle" meaning they are average students but have the potential to do advanced class work and a strong desire to go to college and make their dreams come true. Many AVID students are the first in their families to attend college. AVID classes meet Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday during 7th & 8th block. Contact Ms. Potter (7th grade) at potterk@pcsb.org or Ms. Pawlowicz (8th grade) at pawlowiczs@pcsb.org or call the school at 727-552-1737
AVID Tutors Needed
Tutoring
*Tutors: If you are interested in helping out with AVID tutorials, we’d love to invite you into our classrooms! The AVID program conducts “tutorials” each Tuesday. Students bring in questions they have from all their classes and we help them get their questions answered by conducting tutorials in groups. We do have college students come in and help but we can always use extra tutors. The AVID tutorials are conducted on Tuesdays during 7th block (7th grade) and 8th block (8th grade). Contact potterk@pcsb.org or pawlowiczs@pcsb.org or call the school at 727-552-1737
Media Center Needs Help
Library Shelving
*Our media specialist Ms. Campbell could use some help restocking books on the shelves. Because of countywide budget cuts, she has been teaching classes this year so her time in the library has been limited. Email her at campbellcar@pcsb.org if you can give her an hour or two of your time.
Front Office Can use Your Help
Front office
*The office needs parent volunteers during school hours, especially during the busy before and after school rush. But they can use help any time to answer phones and help with misc office duties. We are looking for volunteers for each day of the week for the entire year. If you are able to help please provide day of week, time and the duration of your commitment. Please contact our volunteer coordinator, the Principal's secretary Mrs. Booth, at 727-552-1737 or email her at boothg@pcsb.org
Classroom help
Have you Heard
*Our media specialist Ms. Campbell is teaching classes this year, in addition to running the library so she could really use some classroom help, especially someone who could put updates on her website. Email her at campbellcar@pcsb.org if you can give her an hour or two of your time.
Green Team
Recycling
*Mr. Hammond could use some parent volunteers for his Green Team. At the end of each day 6 to 9 students go to his room, get the recycling bins and head out to collect all the recycling from the school's blue bins. It would be helpful to have someone out there who could keep an eye on them and even go with the new students as they go around. The kids go to his room at 1:20, which gives them time to go around to every room by 2:00 then they go back to class and home. Last year more 140 students joined the club, which also did some after-school projects like rain barrels, making paper and worm bins. The Jaguar Clubs page will be updated soon with details on this club. If you can volunteer, contact Mr. Hammond.
