Welcome to Garrison-Jones Elementary!
School Front 2013/2014 Weekly Connect Ed
Please click here and complete this short survey for our SAC Committee
Good evening Pioneer families! Today is Sunday, August 24th.
This is our weekly parent connect to keep our families informed.

Good evening Pioneer Families,

This is Mrs. Buckles, principal at Garrison-Jones Elementary.

We had a very productive first week. I want to thank all of our parents for working with us on the arrival and dismissal process. It takes the entire school community to keep safety first and at the forefront of minds. I ask parents to continue to exercise your patience until we get the dismissal process flowing more smoothly in the car circle.

Please remember school begins at 8:35. Plan for your child to be in class for the first bell at 8:30.

All of our students attended the annual PRIDE Assembly to review our school expectations and to remind students what it looks like to exhibit Pioneer PRIDE. During the assembly, we reviewed the Pinellas County Expectations for dress code. Students are not allowed to wear spaghetti straps tops and shorts should be no more than 3 inches above the knee.

Our school webpage is in the process of transferring over to a new format. Soon our webpage will be up and running with the most up-to-date information for your convenience.

Families, thank you for returning the school paperwork in a timely manner. For anyone still working on these items, please complete and return all forms tomorrow.

We want to remind everyone how important it is that our school know how your child goes home.  If for any reason the method of transportation changes for your child please send a note to give to the teacher.

A huge thank you to all of our volunteers who assisted in helping the first week of school.  Your help provided an outstanding start for our students and our staff.

PTA would like you to mark your calendar for their first general meeting and Ice Cream Social on Thursday, September 4th at 6:00 p.m.  Everyone is invited to attend.

A hard copy of our first newsletter will be coming home this week.

Again, thank you Pioneer Families for a wonderful school opener. We are looking forward to another outstanding year!

This message will also be posted on Garrison-Jones’ web page and on our Facebook page. Thank you and have a great evening!

Please watch this brief video for more information:
During the first week of school, you reviewed the Student Code of Conduct, which included a detailed description of the dress code policy on page six. The dress code policy was reviewed with students during a Pioneer PRIDE assembly on August 23rd.

Dress Code Reminders: All shirts and blouses must cover midriff, back, sides, and all undergarments. All shirts, tops, and dresses shall have sleeves and cover the shoulders. Shorts, skirts, divided skirts, dresses and culottes are allowed. They must be mid-thigh length or longer. All trousers, pants, or shorts must totally cover undergarments, including boxer shorts. Safe and appropriate footwear must be worn. Bandanas or sweatbands are not allowed to be visible on school grounds during regular school hours. Hats or other head coverings may be worn during outside P.E. activities and may not be worn during any portion of the regular school day.

Possible Consequences: Students who do not meet the minimum requirements of the dress code will be sent to the clinic for a change of clothes and/or a phone call home to obtain clothing that meets the dress code requirements. The administration will be the final judge about whether a student’s clothing is appropriate for school. Failure to comply with the dress code will be handled similarly to other disciplinary infractions. Non-compliance may result in consequences including but not limited to detention, in-school suspension and loss of eligibility to participate in extracurricular activities.
