School Front May 5th School/Home Connection
Good Evening Pioneer Families! May 12th—this is our weekly scheduled parent connect to keep all our families informed and up-to-date on Garrison-Jones Elementary School activities!

Barb Karcher would like to remind our wonderful volunteers that our volunteer luncheon will be this Thursday, May 16th in the media center at 12: 00 we are so fortunate  to have so many wonderful volunteers.  Thanks for all you do for our school students and staff. 

Talent Show News....Tickets are on sale before school starting Monday the 13th for the Garrison-Jones Xtreme talent showcase. The show is May 17th at 7:00 pm.  General admission is $2 each and reserved seating in the first five rows is $4 each. Please come out to see your friends and support this music department fundraiser.  Don't miss the teachers skit, its always very entertaining.  A concession stand, supporting the student council, will also be available. 
Our Curriculum Fair is this Tuesday May 14th from 6-7!  come see all the things the students have been doing. Also the spring dinner is from 5-630 in the café for those of you who purchased tickets  and the summer camp expo is from 5-7 to share with you exciting things for the students to do this summer,   Drama Club families—remember our show is this Tuesday at 6:30 during the Curriculum Fair. All actors must report backstage at 5:45. We can’t wait to perform for you! Hope to see all our families at this fun event!

The gate at Vanech Park closes exactly at the first bell (8:30) as the teachers have to get to their classes, and the gate opens in the afternoon at the second bell (2:50).

Homework Helpline- 727-547-7223
The Homework Helpline is available Monday through Thursday, 5:00 – 8:00, except when there is no school that day or the following day. The Helpline is staffed by Pinellas county teachers, certified in math, science, language arts, and social studies. These teachers can provide help with homework in grades 1-12, all subjects except foreign language.

On Monday, May 13, the district will launch a new and improved version of the district’s “Newsroom,” an online resource accessible from the district’s website that features information of interest to PCS families and employees. The Newsroom is updated daily and includes video news and feature stories about district events and initiatives as well as positive news about the accomplishments of students and staff. The revamped site has been redesigned to be more user friendly and aims to be a “go to” source for providing timely, accurate information. You can find the link for the Newsroom on the top navigation bar of the district’s website (www.pcsb.org), or you can go to the Newsroom directly at http://newsroom.pcsb.org/.
