Program Description |
The DELTA program is an involuntary elementary disciplinary program under Dropout Prevention Services for students in grades four and five who have committed a serious violation of the Code of Student Conduct, or have chronic disruptive behavior and have not benefited from school based intervention strategies.
DELTA is designed to empower students to acquire the behavior and academic skills necessary for a successful return to their assigned school. The aim of the DELTA program is to provide an integrated/interdisciplinary approach that stresses pro-social skills for the purpose of impacting student conduct and promoting continuous quality improvement. The program is housed at Madeira Beach Elementary in three self-contained portable classrooms. The program is supervised by a Dropout Prevention Supervisor housed at the Administration building. The current staffing model consists of one behavior specialist who acts as the site leader, two teachers, one paraprofessional, one ESE assistant, one teaching assistant, and a part-time social worker. Madeira Beach Elementary provides PE, Art, and Music instruction supervised by DELTA staff. The curriculum is fourth and fifth grade and appropriate for the skill levels of the students. There is an emphasis on pro-social skills and individual goal setting. Uniforms are not required.
