Key Elements
The Pinellas County School Board has approved a new Student Assignment Plan for the 2008-09 school year. Many of the plan’s guiding principles were based on the Choice Task Force recommendations. The plan will:
Have predictable feeder patterns.
Provide multiple school options.
Provide schools close to home.
Ensure all students have access to peers from multiple cultures and diverse backgrounds that possess a broad variety of diverse skills, talents and abilities.
Reduce transportation issues for parents and costs for the district.
Have a simple application process.
Have a uniform set of rules for the entire county.
