Mr. Garrison T. Linder was born in Mineola, New York in 1954. Eighteen years later, he graduated from West Hampton Beach High School and began his journey south. His first stop was Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Little did he know the course of his life would be determined there as he majored in Physical Education and met his future wife, Jacquelyn. He earned his Bachelor's Degree in 1976 and, upon graduation, Garrison and Jacquelyn were married at Wake Forest's Davis Chapel.
Looking for Sun & Fun, Mr. & Mrs. Linder continued south to Clearwater Beach and began their life together, as well as their respective teaching careers. Ever looking for new challenges, Mr. Linder enrolled at Stetson University and was awarded his Masters Degree in Administration and Supervision in 1981.
Mr. Linder's career includes teaching positions at Tarpon Springs Middle, Riviera Middle and Oak Grove Middle. From there, Mr. Linder was selected to serve as an Assistant Principal at Safety Harbor Middle School. He held this position until 1993, at which time he was chosen as one of the first Assistant Principals of the new premier middle school in the county, Joseph L. Carwise.
Mr. Linder has two daughters, both of whom have been students in the Pinellas County School System. Kathryn graduated from Tarpon Springs High School in 2001 and from the University of Florida in 2005. She is currently an academic/reading coach at Mount Vernon Elementary in her 6th year. Cameron, his youngest, is enrolled in St. Petersburg College.
Mr. Linder's 33 years in middle school have prepared him to be ready for the unexpected and to never become complacent. He enjoys the middle school atmosphere, knowing there are amazing transfomations going on with the students. The challenges of one growing physically, emotionally, and mentally often need an understanding and insight that Mr. Linder is able to bestow on his students. What he enjoys most about this age is that one never knows what will happen next! |
