In June, the logs for the “1000 Page Challenge” will be going home. The “1000 Page Challenge” is issued to all students as an incentive to keep their reading stamina strong over the summer. Students log in the number of pages and return the log sheet in the first week of the new school year. When a student returns to school in fall and has read 1000 pages, they will be part of an awards celebration. We are always extremely proud of the students who are able to meet this challenge. For students who are in third through fifth grade, the Sunshine State Books are a good choice to read. That makes the students eligible for the Battle of the Books competition that occurs in the spring. The public libraries have multiple copies of the titles available. This is a great time to read aloud to your children and you can count those pages on the log. It increases reading comprehension as they listen and it is a bonding time for you and your child. Thank you for a wonderful year. We truly have a wonderful community at Brooker Creek and have had amazing learning happening this year. Have a safe and restful summer, Mrs. Giancola, Assistant Principal
