| Extracurricular Happenings |
Spanish |
We offer voluntary Spanish lessons three times a week for our students. Students arrive at 7:30 and are emmersed in the Spanish language for 40 minutes with Mrs. McGill, our Spanish teacher. Mrs. McGill also teaches Spanish at Bay Point Elementary. Students in grades three through five are elibible. There is a fee to use this program. The Spanish lessons start in October and run through April.
We also offer after school Spanish for our Kindergarten through second grade students. Ms. Nicholson, a second grade teacher with Spanish certification will offer lessons on Tuesday and Thursday. There is a fee to use this program. |

Multicultural Club |
| This club meets after school once a month to plan schoolwide activities for the school as well as community service projects. Students in grades 3 through 5 are invited to participate. Past activities include the additon of our Peace Stones in the Turtle Garden. |

KidzArt |
| KidZArt is offered to our students in all grade levels after school twice a week. Students are engaged in all kinds of art actitivies taught by a certified art instructor. There is a balaance between guided instruction and the students' creative freedom. Look for information to come home in August regarding this program. |
Student Council |
| Student Council meets after school once a month to plan school spirit days for Bay Vista as well as community service projects. Students in grade 3 through 5 are members of this group and have planned twin day, crazy hair day as well as a career day for our students. Past community service projects include our annual canned food drive for various Pinellas County charities as well as a Toys for Tots drive. This past school year Student Council worked with the PE Department to purchase equipment that all students will get to use. |

Drama Club |
| The Drama Club is open to 4th and 5th grade students interested in acting. The club meets twice a month to learn the ins and out of acting. They perform for the entire school a play in May. Last year they put on the Wizard of OZ! It was spectacular. |
STEP CLUB |
| This club is open to our African American students in grades 3 through 5 who are currently not part of our Gifted program. Students meet once a month with Mrs. Mayers, a second grade teacher. Students take part in high level thinking and enrichment activities. Last year students visited residents of Suncoast Westminister to read to their residents. |

Sign Language |
| Mrs. LaPointe heads our Sign Language Club. Students learn how to sign and perform at our musicals during the year. |

Chorus |
| Our fourth and fifth grade students have the opportunity to participate in our chorus. Chorus meets once a week during the school day. Students refine their singing skills and perform at two programs each year. |
