Understanding your world is essential if you are to be an informed citizen of a global society. The National Council for the Social Studies (NCSS) defines social studies as "the integrated study of the social sciences and humanities to promote civic competence." It draws on information from five fields of learning: geography, history, economics, government, and culture. |
