What is the Renaissance Program? A fundamental-like school-within-a-school, the Renaissance Program provides a very structured environment, back-to-basics approach and joint parent-teacher-student commitment to offer a quality education. Important features include a focus on student responsibility and self-discipline, daily homework, and required attendance at conferences and monthly parent meetings. Furthermore, students are expected to adhere to rules of conduct which leave no tolerance for disruption of student learning.

Responsibility Students are expected to: Maintain good attendance and citizenship Complete nightly homework Be responsible for their own behavior and learning Adhere to all school rules and regulations, including dress code Develop good study habits and self-discipline Work to their highest potential Use planner daily as a communication tool

Involvement Parental involvement is a requirement of the program. Parents must: Read, sign, and adhere to a parent commitment contract affirming in writing that they will abide by all policies, procedures, and rules of the program as a condition of participation Attend mandatory monthly meetings (PTA or SAC) Agree to attend parent conferences as requested Agree to review and sign their childs nightly homework

An info. session will be offered during the "Celebrate Literacy Knight!" on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 from 6:00-7:30 pm for all incoming 6th & 7th grade students.
AN INTRODUCTION: There are no entrance criteria for new students to the program; therefore any student zoned for Azalea Middle School may apply for this program. Please be advised that there may be a limited number of openings. If so, a lottery will be used to determine which students are selected for the program. A wait list will be maintained and utilized to fill additional openings that arise during the school year.
