NovusEDU Frequently Asked Questions | Q: | How do I delete a page so that it no longer shows up under "My Pages"? | | A: | When you edit your page, you'll notice there is now a delete button...
| | | | | Q: | I've changed my leftnav, but when I look at my page online, nothing has changed. What did I do wrong? | | A: | You may have forgotten to use the "Republish Tool." You must use the "Republish Tool" to update all of your pages when you make changes to your left navigation bar. Also, try hitting the "Refresh" button on your browser when first viewing your page online.
| | | | | Q: | I've made changes to my page, and I can see the changes when I use "Preview" in NovusEDU, but when I look at my page online, it looks unchanged. Why? | | A: | Try hitting the '"Refresh" button on your browser after you open your web page. You may be looking at an older cached copy.
| | | | | Q: | I uploaded a picture, and but when I put it on my page, it looks stretched out of proportion. Why? | | A: | If your image is larger than the max size specified in the template, NovusEDU scales your image so that it fits correctly. This can change the proportions of your image. To avoid this, use an image editor to resize (or "crop") your image to the size specified in the template (or smaller), and then re-upload your picture.
| | | | | Q: | I went to "Published Pages" to edit an existing page, and the option to "Make Changes" is not there. What do I do? | | A: | You probably clicked "Make Changes" for this page sometime in the past, and never republished it. Once you click "Make Changes", NovusEDU automatically copies your page into "Pages in Workflow," and does not allow you to edit the copy in "Published Pages." Find your page under "Pages in Workflow," and click on it to edit it.
| | | | | Q: | I pasted HTML into a "Body Text Area." When I preview (or publish) my page, it has lots of extra whitespace in it, and doesn't look at all like I expected. Why?
| | A: | NovusEDU inserts a line-break tag after each line of HTML in your document. There is a workaround for this: Before you paste your HTML, use Microsoft Word to search-replace all occurances of ^p (this is MS Word's code for a line break.) in your HTML with nothing (simply leave the "replace" field blank). This will get rid of all line-breaks, the end result being stringing all of your HTML together, without any line breaks.
| | | | | Q: | How can I change the name of an existing page? | | A: | On the web page overview screen (the page you come to after hitting "Make Changes" for a published page), simply change the name of the page (or whatever other info you need to change: keywords, URL, description, etc), and then hit "Save as Draft". This will save your changes.
