Osceola Middle Scores High Tech Curriculum Project Read ALL about It in the Seminole Beacon: During the 2006-2007 school year, each of the incoming sixth grade students at our school a schedule, a map of the school, district policy manual, school information, lockers, seating assignments, and textbooks just like all the other students in schools across the country. However, at Osceola Middle School and a handful of other fortunate schools around the country, each sixth grader a laptop computer to use as part of a new curriculum initiative. |

Another Tool for the Students' Toolbelts Why would we want all this added responsibility? This is a curriculum project! The computers are another tool or resource to help create a different way of learning. Plus, the students LOVE the program!! |
 |
We believe the laptops will open windows for our students! When we began to envision a geography class, for example, with all the up-to-date internet's information, we saw a classroom without walls. The brand new textbook's information was history the moment it was printed. Our classroom will be transformed! We are excited about our new endeavor. |

| Our grant is entitled "Homework in a Flash". We received enough money to purchase each one of our sixth grade students a flash drive. Students have access to computers at home, a friend or relatives' homes, and/or the public library. Students will take their flash drive with them after school to work on assignments. |
